Man Found Dead Steps From Police Station On Long Island Was Murdered, Cops Say

A murder investigation is underway after a man was found slain in a makeshift tent just steps from a Long Island police station.

The victim was found in a homeless encampment near Suffolk and Carleton avenues in Central Islip on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The victim was found in Central Islip, near the intersection of Suffolk and Carleton avenue, at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, as Daily Voice reported. The scene was just steps from the MTA Police Department headquarters.

Based on the man’s condition and other evidence found inside the tent, detectives concluded that the man had been murdered, a Suffolk County Police spokesperson told Daily Voice.

The victim, described only as an adult male, had not been publicly identified as of Wednesday, Feb. 19. An official cause of death will be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.
